BLUE HANDS ON WITH BLUE PRINT AMSTERDAMadmin
The global pandemic stripped society of a number of valuable things, like personal touch and precious moments, to name a few. It also forced us to leverage innovation and technology and reimagine the way we connect, communicate, and experience moments in real time. Tom Freston, the co-founder of MTV, once said that “innovation is taking two things that exist and putting them together in a new way,” and that’s exactly what we did in our latest indigo dyeing workshop. We took a virtual mindset to promote our newest collection of Denim Privé and brought together indigo-minded spirits near and far.
In April, we connected denim professionals, lovers, enthusiasts and influencers from all over the world for a series of live indigo dyeing workshops via Zoom. This event, in collaboration with Blue Print Amsterdam, a creative design studio with a kindred passion for denim and indigo, featured five sessions over the course of two weekends. And though they were done via a video-conferencing app, the community and connection created over the course of these sessions felt just as special as an in-person workshop. The smiles, laughter and authentic joy fueled by the art of creation were on full display.
The instructor for this hands-on virtual session was Celia Geraedts of Blue Print Amsterdam.
Celia, a graphic artist and former designer at Levi’s, founded Blue Print Amsterdam after a journey in Japan that taught her the craft of natural indigo dyeing and nurtured her deep love for denim, indigo and creating products by hand. Her unquenchable passion oozes from her persona, and it was a true treat to witness it live.
At Denim Privé, one of the core values in our ideology is that we believe in empowering creative exploration with greater responsibility. In short, not only do we have the ability to do, we do for something bigger than ourselves: the greater good. This collaboration, and the impact felt from it, was a true testament to that value.
Hand on. Innovation. Collaboration. That’s the Denim Privé Way.
